Friendship Bracelet Entrepreneur

Trudy Jones valued her friendship with Amy Lockhart and the Elementrees above everything else. If someone were to ask her to describe herself, she would say she was Amy’s best friend. She enjoyed helping others, too. Her dream was to become an American Sign Language interpreter.

Everyday she thought about friendship and how she could become a better friend. She recently learned how to make several different kinds of friendship bracelets: rope, color-blocking spiral, fishtail, and striped. She asked all the Elementrees what their favorite colors were and then she custom made ten different friendship bracelets in each person’s favorite colors.

The Elementrees enjoyed their bracelets so much that she was inspired to make more bracelets and sell them for twenty-five cents each at her school and at a local craft show. Trudy’s friendship bracelets sold like hotcakes. She ended up making a total of seven dollars and fifty cents. She sold thirty bracelets, her entire inventory.

She didn’t actually make a profit though, at least not yet, because her Mom had purchased 105 skeins of embroidery thread for $17. She still had a lot of string left over. Maybe soon she would make a profit after she made more bracelets. In the meantime, she was enjoying what she was doing and spreading friendship around her school and community.
